Uffizi Gallery – La Galleria degli Uffizi Small Group 2 Hr Guided Tour.
Florence is Italy’s major museum, housing the leading Italian artists. Small Group 2 Hr Guided Tour. Our Uffizi tour covers the Uffizi Gallery’s major rooms and halls. Avoid long lines with skip-the-line tickets and take the shorter, quicker line. Take the quickest entry and get up close and personal with the Renaissance masters.
The gallery was built in 1581, under the request of Granduca Francisco de’ Medici, son of Cosimo I. The original design was that of Giorgio Vasari, one of the leading painters and architects during the 15th century. Today the Uffizi is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Florence.
In high season (particularly in July), waiting times can be up to five hours. Visitors who reserve a ticket in advance have a substantially shorter wait.
The Galleria is an extraordinary collection of paintings that embraces an historical period from the 1200’s until present, and from many European regions. Uffizi Gallery Tours are the best way to get a full understanding of the masterpieces on display in a city whose name is synonymous with artistic excellence.
The Uffizi tour focuses on the most important Renaissance masters:_
Giotto, considered to be the painter who paved the way for the Renaissance;
Filippo Lippi, a friar-painter much admired by Cosimo the Elder, master of Botticelli and also father of the great painter Filippino Lippi, also present in this collection with important works of art.
Botticelli’s harmony of his two most famous paintings: “the Birth of Venus” and “Spring”, both of them painted for the Medici family, with their intriguing symbolism;
Leonardo da Vinci’s “Annunciation”, painted when the master was only 20 years old, but already showing his colour shading technique characterized by subtle transitions between colours, thus creating an atmospheric haze;
The marvellous “Tondo Doni” by Michelangelo, the only painting in the gallery definitely by great master, still in its original frame, also designed by Michelangelo;
Some of the most famous works by Raphael, the portraits of the two Popes Julius II and Leo X;
The Venetian painter Titian, the official painter of the Emperor Charles V, the most versatile of the Italian painters.
The aim of our Uffizi guided tour is not to rush through the Gallery, but instead, to observe selected works in depth and using the Gallery as a visual text, you will be told the history and evolution of Florentine art.
At the end of the guided tour you can remain in the Uffizi Gallery until closing time. Enjoy independently exploring the fascinating gallery, revisiting the priceless masterpieces. Then, grab a cappuccino or spritz from the Uffizi’s cafe and relax on the terrace – where you can find unmatched views of the Florentine skyline. Italian art, history, and views… It does not get much better than this!
