Brunello di Montalcino Wine Tour, small group mini bus tour departing from Siena or San Gimignano. Brunello di Montalcino wine is considered one of the best red wines in Italy. It has its ancestral roots in village of Montalcino in the Val d’Orcia in southern Tuscany and in the ancient winemaking tradition, handed down from one generation to the next.

The town of Montalcino, not far from Montepulciano, is a sanctuary of this magnificent wine produced from Sangiovese grapes and is a picturesque medieval village on the top of a hill with views out over the rolling hills. We will visit the town, its century-old fortress, and the best wineries reviewed in specialized magazines. Brunello was developed by Ferruccio Biondi Santi, a little more than a century ago, and almost immediately drew the attention of connoisseurs for its excellence.

Brunello is produced exclusively within the Montalcino territory, and only from Sangioveto Grosso grapes, a Sangiovese clone perfectly suited to local conditions. Before release, Brunello must be aged for four years, at least two of which must be in wooden casks. It is a picturesque medieval village, on the top of a hill with views out over the rolling hills. We will visit the town, the century-old fortress, and the best wineries reviewed in specialized magazines.

We will explore also the beautiful surrounding area of Montalcino. Along with a selection of other prestigious wines, you will also sample  the Brunello di Montalcino, known as the “Italian ambassador in the world of our winemaking”, currently the most appreciated Italian wine in the whole world.
