Description
Florence hotel of the “Room with a View” immortalised in the romantic film by the same name directed by James Ivory winner of 3 Oscars. The hotel has a terrace and bar with lovely views over the Arno Ufizzi Gallery. On the Arno river that runs through Florence Lungoarno, the hotel has a great position and a few steps from the Ponte Vecchio right in the heart of Florence.
From the wonderful terrace of the American Bar on the top floor, you will have a unique view over the river Arno, Palazzo Vecchio, Brunelleschi’s magnificent Dome and the splendid hills which surround Florence.
This is where you can enjoy your Welcome Drink, which will be offered on arrival, with relaxing background music and – why not? – where you can taste typical local and Italian dishes accompanied by a glass of excellent Chianti Classico.
Rooms
This 42 room hotel boasts unique historical features “” guests can still view traces of an antique medieval tower in the interior that was destroyed by Ghibellini in the year 1260. The complex also still holds historical outlets which date back to the 13th century such as the Holy Agostino” s Father Convent and Enclosure. Inside the hotel there are marvelous frescoes and ceilings built and painted during the Florentine period that have been recently restored.
The rooms divided into Classic, Executive and Junior Suites are spacious and elegant finely finished in period furniture and provided with all comforts.
The Room with a View
The “Room with a View” is a splendid room on the 4th floor (n. 414), with a magnificent terrace offering a unique view over the Arno and the Ponte Vecchio.
This room has been immortalised in the romantic film by the same name directed by James Ivory, winner of 3 Oscars, one of which was for best set design.
Many of our guests stay in the wonderful and exclusive “Room with a View” to relive those fascinating, romantic moments and the perfume of a bygone era, wonderfully described by E.M. Forster, author of the novel which inspired the famous film. Size: 20 m2
Suites
The new wing “Orafi Tower” in the restored part of the ancient tower hosts the suites elegantly furnished in a more modern style particularly suitable for longer stays or for families who will appreciate more space. The bathrooms are made in marble with either showers or tubs; many of the rooms have two washbasins and/or separate WC. In here you will also find a hairdryer bathrobe vanity set and slippers.
The central location means that landmarks such as the Palazzo Vecchio, the ancient Medici Residence, Vasari Corridor and Brunelleschi Dome are all within a convenient walking distance.
All floors are served by lifts and the Hotel has also been adapted for disabled use.
