Description
Bellagio is a lovely little town set on the point between the two spurs of Lake Como in Lombardia. It has some great restaurants with lake views and pretty shops filled with the famous silk made on the lake for hundreds of years.
Small enough to walk around in an hour, Bellagio is a good center positon to explore up and down Lake Como by ferry..
Bellagio is a quiet village at night so this is not the place for bars and nightclubs. It is more a place for a relaxing holiday with dinner then rest or for families with young children where they can swim on the lake shores in summer. Outside of summer, the other three seasons are a bit cool for swimming.
In Bellagio We Recommend
There are two beautiful villas to visit – Villa Melzi and Villa Serbelloni – as well as walks around the town to the other side Pescallo.
Villa Balbianello with lovely gardens, is just across the water on the other side reached by ferry and a walk up to the villa.
Markets with locally handmade crafts are regularly held – ask your hotel reception which day the markets are when you arrive. Each village has its own market day.
There are some great walks around the lake if you are into hiking.
Catch a water taxi to the Island of Comacina where there is a great restaurant for lunch. Become a client of Passion for Italy and we will book lunch for you and the water taxi.
